The Elite Movie Challenge

A few days ago, I posted my “Elite Game Challenge” which only means that I must also create one for movies (and maybe books…?). Since I’ve gotten a decent amount (like 3) of emails/facebook messages inquiring more about the process and details (it’s all free, I just created these for fun and wanted to challenge myself and others), as well as if there would be a challenge for movies as well.

So, here we are! The “Elite Movie Challenge” has been created and, like the Game Challenge, has three difficulties, three acts, and three sections in each act. However, instead of the act and level titles being game related, they are now movie-themed (i.e. “levels” now referred to as “scenes”). Since movies are (much) shorter than games, these challenges may be easier to complete but I chose not to change the rules since “difficulty” is really subjective to the participant. For Person A, it may be easier to play 100 video game campaigns than watch 100 films whereas Person B may be the exact opposite. So, the rules are the same, quantities the same, and basically everything else as well aside from one or two challenges but either way… I bestow upon your gracious self, the Elite Movie Challenge:

If you read my Game Challenge (I recommend that you do), you’d know that as you complete challenges, you unlock Medallions, Titles, and other cool cosmetic items to celebrate your journey. I put the same images down below as I did in the Game Challenge, so although the images are Game themed, there will also be some for movies as well. The gray medallion is rewarded simply for signing up, and the rest are as follows…

Once you complete the first Act in the Bronze section, you’re rewarded the Bronze Medallion and you’re also rewarded new Icons, Bases, Toppers, and Backgrounds as you go (all Bronze until you beat Silver Challenges). The bronze, silver, and gold challenges reward you with as follows (and more).

Each Medallion color is unlocked once Act I is complete for that difficulty, and the images you see inside of them correspond to the challenge that was completed to unlock them. Once you COMPLETE the GOLD challenges, you unlock the highly coveted FREE COLOR Medallion, which allows you to change the color of any and all of the Medallion icon pieces and rewards you with what you see below, and more.

As far as when you can start, it can be anytime at all. Now, last week, a year ago: as long as you have saved when you watched a film (using IMDb lists or, personally, letterboxd.com is a criminally under-utilized online service), you can (have) start(ed) whenever. For me, I’ve been keeping track of what and when I watch since August, 2012 which means I’ve most likly beaten the GOLD challenges but for an extra challenge, start right now!

E-mail me or comment below any questions at all, and I wish the best of luck to each of you! Look out for a follow-up post tomorrow detailing a good exercise routine to keep in shape while watching all of the great movies you choose!
